The City of Encinitas has begun a study to create a Master Plan for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging. The Encinitas EV Charging Station Master Plan will determine EV adoption goals and set the baseline for the EV charging master planning efforts by researching and documenting the metrics like EV ownership rates, charger locations, and potential barriers to increasing EV adoption.
The Master Plan’s development will include efforts such as data collection, mapping, and public outreach to highlight priorities and develop potential EV adoption growth scenarios. This will include analysis of potential strengths, including locations of existing (and planned) residential; workplace; retail and other commercial sites, shared mobility charging infrastructure, as well as examining gaps in the existing charging network. All recommendations and goals will be consistent with the City’s Climate Action Plan.
The centerpiece of the master plan will be a map of recommended charging locations. This map will identify currently installed and planned stations, known stations planned for installation, and additional recommended charging locations throughout the Encinitas community. The project is expected to be complete in Summer of 2022.
